Calgary John Howard Society

2025 Award - Calgary

Nominator Comments:

At Calgary John Howard Society (CJHS), we recognize that front-line employees and volunteers are the heart of our organization, providing critical support to individuals navigating the justice system, homelessness, and community reintegration. Their dedication and resilience are fundamental to our mission, and we believe meaningful recognition fosters motivation, engagement, and long-term retention.

With this award, we will enhance our Annual Employee Recognition Awards Celebration, a peer-led initiative that acknowledges the contributions of our frontline team members. This funding will allow us to expand and formalize our recognition program by:

Supporting Meaningful Awards – We currently provide tangible recognition, such as custom awards and gift cards, to celebrate outstanding contributions. This funding will help sustain and enhance these awards, ensuring they remain impactful and valued by staff.

Sustaining Year-Round Recognition – We will develop ongoing recognition touchpoints, such as monthly or quarterly appreciation initiatives, to maintain momentum beyond the annual event. For an organization of our size, this grant will make a significant impact by ensuring our front-line staff and volunteers feel valued and celebrated. Investing in recognition strengthens workplace morale, reinforces our commitment to restorative justice, and ultimately improves service delivery for the communities we support.

Have you been helped by a human service champion? We would love to hear about it.
