At the Elspeth Heyworth Centre for Women, a dedicated team of 8 staff members works tirelessly to uplift and empower some of the most vulnerable individuals in the Toronto and Vaughan communities. Through their compassionate and coordinated efforts, they provide vital services to newcomers, refugees, women escaping domestic violence, isolated seniors, and low-income families. In 2023-2024, the team supported over 10,000 visits, distributed 156,000 lbs of food, and assisted 200 families weekly through their food bank. One touching example is of a single mother of three, who found hope in the team’s unwavering support, even after regular hours. They ensured she had access to essential supplies, food, and kindness, going above and beyond her expectations. The impact is felt across every corner of the community, from offering life-changing settlement support to guiding youth through the Anti-Human Trafficking Program. Clients express how the Elspeth team’s love, coordination, and mentorship have transformed their lives, making them feel like family.
