St. Leonard’s Place Peel
Nominator Comments:
Jaydeep has been a key player making community connections and identifying gaps in health care service at St. Leonard’s Place Peel.
After identifying that transportation difficulties and previous stigmatization with health care services meant that many clients were having difficulty accessing the influenza vaccine, Jaydeep organized public health to administer the vaccine at St. Leonard’s Place Peel. He then recruited agency front line staff help to encourage clients and staff to receive their influenza vaccine yearly, decreasing influenza transmission and risks.
Jaydeep also created safe, confidential spaces for Hepatitis C and HIV testing at St. Leonard’s Place Peel, and has since made this part of the agency’s regular health services.

Local Change Makers Celebrated
It’s a sector that reinforces crucial community safety net, but the people working the front-lines of the GTA’s community agencies don’t often get the public appreciation they so deserve. The Bhayana Family Foundation Awards recognize extraordinary contributions made by frontline staff and middle managers who are tackling #UNIGNORABLE local issues at United Way Greater Toronto-supported agencies.
On November 18, winners were awarded for helping and people and their communities thrive through their dedication, innovation and creativity, leadership, teamwork and partnership.
