Supporting Victims of Gender-Based and Intimate Partner Violence
Shelter Movers Nova Scotia offers free moving and storage solutions to women and children fleeing gender-based violence and intimate partner violence. Working closely with clients, the organization helps women pack, move and store their belongings completely free of charge to quickly escape their abuser. Services are easily accessible and the organization is there to support clients throughout their entire journey. After referral from a community partner to Shelter Movers, a client has an open line of communication with volunteers and can request assistance for multiple moves until they’ve safely resettled into their new home. Shelter Movers is the only organization of its kind-it is a national brand, Shelter Movers expanded to Nova Scotia in late 2019 and since then has safely helped over 400 families transition to a life free from violence. With partnerships with police and security, there is no move too large or unsafe for Shelter Movers to tackle
