Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre
Nominator Comments:
“Silvia consistently exceeds the requirements of her job, demonstrates initiative and commitment to agency development. She has demonstrated firmness and determination when problem situations arise in the centre. Her close attention to detail has resulted in meticulous and accurate work and saving the life of a client. On that fateful day with her vigilance and alertness as part of her daily work at the front desk, she noticed a client seated on one of the computer station struggling to breath. She quickly approached the client and she noticed the face of the client was red with teary eyes and was showing a sign of choking. Even though Silvia is untrained in First Aid and CPR she quickly proceeded to assist the client and after the third back Blow the piece of meat stacked in the client’s throat cleared out to the amazement of all present at the time.”
